Barbara’s favorite, our Rooibos is only grown in a small area in the Cedarberg region of the Western Cape province in South Africa. We appreciate it for its high level of antioxidants and lack of caffeine.
Our Rooibos is wonderful with milk and sugar, but Barbara prefers it without. The full-bodied flavor can be described as sweet (without sugar added) and slightly nutty. To produce the distinctive reddish-brown color the leaves are oxidized or fermented.
Preparation: Rooibos tea is essentially the same as black tea except that it gets better the longer it is brewed. We use one level teaspoon per 8 oz of water. Place tea into a tea-ball or loose in a cup; add boiling water, steep for a few moments and strain.
